Tomorrow, November 25, in the Orthodox calendar the day of memory of the holy hieromartyr Clement. He was one of the first bishops of Rome and one of the most prominent figures of early Christianity. His life is known from church traditions, apocryphal texts and historical references. He is considered the fourth Roman Pope after the Holy Apostle Peter.
Clement was born in Rome in a rich family. His conversion to Christianity is believed to have been due to the preaching of the apostles Peter and Paul. After his baptism, he became a zealous preacher and an active member of the early Christian community.
Clement became Pope in about 88 after St. Lina and St. Anacleta. He led the church in difficult times…
