One unexpected scent is as effective as a sleeping pill for improving sleep – Lifestyle
A recent study showed that the smell of a partner can have the same positive effect on sleep as taking a sleeping pill, for example, melatonin, reports Sports.kz with reference to the “Championship”.
Scientists from the University of British Columbia concluded that this smell creates a feeling of safety and comfort, which contributes to stronger and healthier sleep.
In the experiment, participants were given pillowcases made from T-shirts that their partners had previously worn. The sleep of those volunteers who slept on these pillowcases was noticeably improved, even if they did not know where the familiar smell came from.
