opendatabot refuted FT data on 60 thousand criminal cases of desertion – UNIAN
Analysts noted that in the published data, the Western publication, without explanation, combined the cases of desertion and unauthorized abandonment of the unit.
The Financial Times, citing data from the Office of the Prosecutor General, published material stating that 60 thousand deserters were recorded in Ukraine over 10 months.
However, according to calculations by the Opendatabot service, the number of cases opened under Art. 408 of the Criminal Code, in fact, almost three times less.
Opendatabot analysts noted that in the published data, the Western publication, without explanation, combined the cases of desertion (Article 408 of the Criminal Code) and unauthorized abandonment of a unit (Article 407 of the Criminal Code).
