Gerasimov told Brown that the Oreshnik launch was planned long before the United States allowed Ukraine to launch long-range weapons strikes against the Russian Federation.
Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov spoke by phone last week with US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Q. Brown. According to The New York Times, this was the first time Brown spoke with his Russian counterpart.
According to Brown's press secretary, the call took place on November 27, but “at the request of General Gerasimov, General Brown agreed not to announce the call in advance.” The request for the call was made by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
