Pokrovsk – Russians seek not to capture, but to blockade the city
The occupiers plan to bypass Pokrovsk and reach the border of the Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk regions, Muzhenko noted.
The city of Pokrovsk has a big risk of being blockaded, which will lead to Ukraine losing the entire Donetsk region. This opinion was expressed by General, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014-19, Viktor Muzhenko, in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“This means that we actually left Donbass to the Russians,” he noted, answering a question about a possible blockade of Pokrovsk.
In his opinion, today the Russians are not faced with the task of capturing Pokrovsk:
“I think the question is to block Pokrovsk. It will be much cheaper for them, in terms of resources, perhaps not resources, but in terms of their losses. And now they are doing it….
