Several people shared their views on life during the polar night, telling why it is worth living on your own.

In the Arctic and Antarctic, people are forced to live for months without nights and without sunlight. But what is it like to live in a place where darkness reigns constantly? Many people think that the lack of familiar signals, day-night cycles and exposure to vitamin D must deplete the inhabitants and throw them off balance, but it is easier to learn about the effects of the polar day and night from the people who live there.

A photographer, researcher and two Arctic residents shared their personal experiences and debunked some common misconceptions, particularly about the polar night, The Independent writes.
