This opinion was expressed by the Ukrainian journalist and political commentator Vitaly Portnikov.

According to Portnikov, the question of freezing the war is not in the negotiations mediated by the USA.

“Why should we talk to Russia through the mediation of the United States? If President Putin rates his economy as unsatisfactory, the war will be frozen in February-March 2025.
