Price caps block electricity imports from the EU,
Current price caps (maximum prices for electricity) limit the possibilities for importing and restoring the energy system of Ukraine. This was stated in a commentary for ExPro Electricity by Igor Tynny, co-founder of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, businessman and investor in renewable energy sources.
In his opinion, price caps do not allow effective maneuvering in the market, especially when there is a need for imported electricity to cover the deficit. Tynny noted that such restrictions also narrow the opportunities for the development of the domestic electricity market, in particular, for the introduction of energy storage technologies.
