Tomato prices in Ukraine are actively growing due to increased demand before the New Year holidays. At the moment, the bulk of the products in stores are imported, in particular, tomatoes are imported from Turkey.
Analysts of the EastFruit project noted that since the beginning of the week the vegetable has grown by an average of 20%. Today, imported tomatoes go on sale for 80-100 UAH/kg ($1.91-2.38/kg) depending on the quality, batch size and variety of products offered.
It is reported that this week the supply of tomatoes was insufficient because imported products did not fully satisfy demand. As a result, sellers were able to increase selling prices for imported tomatoes.
