The United States will ban visas for about 20 Georgian officials who are “responsible for undermining democracy,” the State Department said.
“We are committed to ensuring that officials responsible or complicit in undermining democracy are subject to visa restrictions,” the statement said.
The department avoided specific names of those affected by the sanctions, but clarified that we are talking about current ministers of parliament and government, law enforcement officers and security officers, as well as private individuals.
