Raising taxes in Ukraine – what the IMF advises — Money
The International Monetary Fund recommends that Ukraine adhere to the national revenue strategy in order to establish the fairness of taxation.
The International Monetary Fund, within the framework of increasing the potential of domestic sources of financing, advises Ukraine to increase the value added tax (VAT) in the future, because immediate revenues are needed as early as next month.
Trevor Lessard, deputy head of the IMF mission in Ukraine, said this in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency in Washington.
According to him, the increase in the VAT rate will improve the situation with the receipt of funds. At the same time, he emphasized the need for fairness in Ukraine's tax system and a full-fledged carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM).
