Reduction of transfer limits – why do banks do it – TSN Exclusive

The expert explained why such restrictions are needed.

Ukraine will strengthen financial monitoring and introduce new restrictions on card transfers. The memorandum on this was signed by the largest banks of Ukraine. Restrictions apply to all transfers, including via IBAN.

Banks agreed to introduce restrictions on holding outgoing transfers in the absence of documentary proof of income:

to set a limit in the amount for clients with a “high” level of risk up to 50 thousand UAH per month

for “medium” and “low” risk clients:

• from February 1, 2025 – in the amount of 150 thousand UAH per month
• from June 1, 2025 – in the amount of 100 thousand UAH per month

Limits do not apply to customers with confirmed sources of income, including salaried customers, as well as volunteers.
