Kirov residents will be able to see the peak of the Leonid meteor shower. This was reported in the “Amateur Astronomy in Kirov” community.

As the author of the public Alexey Sykchin explains, the Leonids are an annual meteor shower with a radiant in the constellation Leo, the radiant is a point in the sky from which meteors appear to be flying out. The shower is active from November 6 to 30, peaking on November 17-18 with 15-20 meteors per hour.

This year there are unfavorable conditions for observations, because the Moon, close to the full moon phase, will greatly illuminate the sky. However, you can try to discern an extraordinary phenomenon. It is best to observe in the second half of the night, in an easterly direction, without optical instruments, in a dark sky with an open horizon.
