It is currently unknown how many military personnel have returned to duty since the new law was passed.
The law on “amnesty” for military personnel who committed unauthorized abandonment of a unit for the first time (SOCH) did not work as originally intended.
The ex-company commander of the Aidar battalion, director of the National Antarctic Science Center, Evgeniy Dikiy, said this in an interview with LIGA.net. He believes that this happened due to the fact that when drafting the law, one detail was missed, namely, it was not stated that the law also applies to those SOCs that occurred before the adoption of the law.
Thus, as Dikiy noted, those who are now in the army have a legal opportunity to escape, but those who escaped are still afraid to return.
