On December 7, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and future US President Donald Trump, during which the Ukrainian leader tried to establish contact with Trump and explain the need for security guarantees in any negotiated end to the war with Russia
“The three leaders spoke for 35 minutes without advisers and did not discuss specific details of a peace deal, but Trump repeated that he wanted an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to quickly end the war,” Reuters writes, citing officials with knowledge of the meeting.
