In just one day, Russia destroyed 2 gigawatts of electricity, the US ambassador said.

Since March 2024, Russia has destroyed about half of Ukraine's electric power capacity.

This was stated by the US Permanent Representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Voice of America reports.

According to her, this led to power outages that affected every Ukrainian across the country. Approximately 3.5 million Ukrainians live without electricity.

“In just one day, Russia destroyed 2 gigawatts of electricity. This is enough to provide light to more than a million homes,” Thomas-Greenfield emphasized.
