Russia must be forced to pay for the damage to Ukraine – UNIAN
Valdis Dombrovskis recalled international law, according to which the aggressor is responsible for the damage caused.
The European Union should consider taking bolder measures, such as confiscating frozen Russian assets to compensate Ukraine. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis, writes Bloomberg.
“We certainly need to study and work through all options,” Dombrovskis said.
The European Commissioner recalled that in international law there is a well-established principle according to which the aggressor is responsible for the damage caused.
“Therefore, we must find ways to make Russia pay for the damage it causes to Ukraine,” the official said.
