Russian planes often catch fire and crash due to the significant impact of international sanctions. Instructor pilot, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Roman Svitan said this in a commentary to Channel 24.
According to him, Russian “import substitution” does not work in the aviation sector, and Russian civilian aircraft should not take to the skies at all.
The expert recalled that the day before, after an unsuccessful landing at Antalya airport, the engine of a Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft of the Russian airline Azimut caught fire. As a result of the incident, 79 passengers were evacuated. This was the third accident of this Russian aircraft in 2024.
