A famous Russian opera singer Vasyl Gerellowho hails from the Chernivtsi region, was punished for supporting the war in Ukraine.
As reported on the website of the Vinnytsia City Court, the performer was found guilty of violating Part 2 Art. 110 and Art. 436 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, it refers to Gerello's deliberate actions, committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory or the state border of Ukraine and violating the order established by the Constitution. The court considered the case and found the singer guilty. The artist was sentenced in absentia to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property, which should go to the state.
