45-year-old Kazakh specialist Samat Smakov will be appointed head coach of Taldykorgan “Zhetysu”Sports.kz reports with reference to KazFootball.kz.
It is reported that yesterday Samat Smakov arrived in Taldykorgan and met with the akim of the Zhetysu region, where he was approved for the position of head coach of the team.
Previously, the specialist served as technical director of the capital's Astana. Last year, the specialist brought Elimay to the Premier League.
When he was a player, Smakov played for Elimay, Irtysh, Rostselmash (Russia), Zhenis, Kairat, Aktobe, Rizespor (Turkey) and Ordabasy. He also holds the record for the number of matches played for the Kazakhstan national team.
