On Wednesday, December 11, the permanent representatives of the countries of the European Union approved the 15th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in Brussels. DW reports this.

According to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the restrictions are aimed at combating the so-called “shadow fleet” – a group of tankers that the Russians use to export oil and petroleum products bypassing restrictions established by the Group of Seven (G7) countries and their partners. New people and companies that help the Russian Federation bypass Western restrictions will be added to the sanctions lists.
