Scholz told under what conditions German peacekeepers will be sent to Ukraine
Scholz believes that the current debate about sending troops is premature.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany will not send peacekeepers to Ukraine while the war continues.
This was reported by Spiegel.
Scholz clarified that the issue of the peacekeeping mission will become relevant only after the end of the war.
“While the war is raging, there will be no soldiers from Germany or German ground forces in Ukraine. For the period after that, it should be about security guarantees, which are still being discussed, so that Ukraine is sure that Russia will not attack it for the third time as in 2014 and 2022,” the chancellor said.
Scholz also emphasized that possible security guarantees will be discussed with the Ukrainian side.
We will remind you that German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made an encouraging statement about German peacekeepers in Ukraine.
