A team of Chinese bioengineers and specialists in the field of virtual reality has developed an innovative device in the form of a candy that is capable of conveying taste sensations in a VR environment, Sports.kz reports with reference to the “Championship”.
Previously, virtual reality technologies only allowed the creation of visual and sound effects, leaving the transfer of taste out of reach.
The new invention, described in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is an interface that generates taste sensations when the tongue touches the surface of a candy. Inside the device there are capsules with a variety of flavoring ingredients – nine in total: sugar, salt, citric acid, cherry, passion fruit, green tea, milk, durian and grapefruit.
