Scientists stressed that storms around Antarctica may become more common.

Storms are intensifying around Antarctica due to the loss of sea ice, which scientists describe as “a shift unlike anything seen in the last century.” According to them, such a change could have a huge impact on the climate, reports IFLScience.

A new study from the UK's National Oceanographic Center, published in the journal Nature, examined record low Antarctic sea ice levels in the winter of 2023.

Scientists say sea ice concentrations in large regions of the Weddell, Bellingshausen and Ross Seas have fallen to 80% below normal levels this winter. They believe such a drastic change could have caused ripple effects…
