Scientists have revived a tree from seeds that have been stored for more than 1,000 years — Science and IT
The tree may be related to the biblical “tsori”.
Scientists were able to resurrect the seed, which was discovered in a cave in the Judean desert back in the 1980s.

Radiocarbon dating has shown that the seed is over 1,000 years old, and its DNA points to a genus of trees mentioned in the Bible. This type of tree, named “Sheba”, belongs to the Commiphora genus, Frankincense and Myrrh family.
The tree grew to a height of three meters in 14 years, and now scientists have the opportunity to study its characteristics. Although the tree is morphologically similar to other species Commiphoraits DNA confirmed that Sheba is different from known species.
It is likely that Sheba is a descendant of trees that once grew in the Southern Levant region that encompasses modern-day Israel, Palestine, and Jordan. Initially, it was believed that this tree could be the legendary “Judean Balm”,…
