The plant in the special economic zone “Alabuga” in the south of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation significantly increased the production of Iranian-developed strike and reconnaissance drones of the type Shahed-136.

As noted, in 2023, the plant produced 2,738 Shaheds, and in the first nine months of 2024, it more than doubled this number, producing 5,760 drones.
Serial production of cheaper decoy drones was also launched in Alabuz.
CNN writes that to speed up production rates, Russia uses a number of Chinese components and low-skilled labor – Russian teenagers and African women.
