Shadow fleet – Finland detained a ship that could damage a cable in the Baltic Sea – UNIAN

The Finnish coast guard has taken control of an oil tanker suspected of being involved in cutting off power lines and telecommunications cables connecting the country to Estonia. The ship was heading from Russia.
According to Reuters, the Director of the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation Robin Lardo and National Police Commissioner Ilkka Koskimaki announced this during a press conference. The Eagle S is registered in the Cook Islands; customs seized the cargo, claiming that the tanker belonged to the Russian “shadow fleet”:
“We are investigating serious sabotage on our part. It is our understanding that the damage was caused by the anchor of the vessel, which is under investigation.”
