Shooting in New York: the CEO of one of the largest US companies was killed in Manhattan


The police suspect a deliberate murder.

The New York police reported that on Wednesday, December 4, an unknown person shot and killed the CEO of the largest American insurance company, UnitedHealthcare, in downtown New York.

Brian Thompson, 50, was killed in the middle of a Manhattan street as he walked toward the Hilton Hotel, where he was to attend UnitedHealthcare's annual investor conference.

According to reporters, the shooter has not yet been arrested. After the attack, he fled, probably in the direction of Central Park. Law enforcement officers are currently combing the area.

The investigation established that the masked assailant had been waiting for his victim to appear on the street for about 10 minutes. When he saw Thompson, he started shooting in his direction from a distance of about six meters. A few shots were hit.
