Silver medalist of the World Championship in Kazakhstan became the head of the Turkish Wrestling Federation – Wrestling

Turkish freestyle wrestler Taha Akgül was elected president Turkish Wrestling Federation at the sixth regular and financial general assembly of the organization in Ankara, Sports.kz reports with reference to UWW.

“I am very glad that the representatives elected me president.” Together with my team, I will do my best for the sport of wrestling with passion and hard work,” Akgul told United World Wrestling shortly after the election.

Akgul retired after the 2024 Paris Olympics, having successfully won his third medal. The 34-year-old native of Sivas won Olympic gold at Rio 2016 and then back-to-back bronze medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics.
