In the photograph, 14-year-old Slava poses with a piece of fabric on her head, reminiscent of an Indian movie heroine.
“1998. I’m 14 years old. Friends, this is not a scarf. This is a piece of fabric from which my mother’s skirt was later sewn,” Kaminskaya comments with humor.
