Sony has developed its own AI processor for Playstation 5 Pro – UNIAN

AMD was unable to offer the company an optimal solution for implementing supersampling technology and Playstation decided to start its own project.

It is known that AMD is the main supplier of components for Playstation consoles, but when Sony set out to implement PSSR supersampling technology in the new PS5 Pro, the Reds simply did not have the necessary technologies to help their partner with the idea.

Now it’s difficult to imagine a game without an upscaler using artificial intelligence, and Sony decided to take everything into its own hands rather than give up the “free” increase in game performance.

Playstation chief architect Mark Cerny revealed at a recent technical workshop that Sony began developing an improved GPU based on the RDNA2.x architecture back in 2020, when the PS5 Pro was in its early stages…
