Special representative of “war and peace”: Trump appointed General Keith Kellogg to settle Russia's war against Ukraine
It cannot be said that it came as a complete surprise. After all, as early as November 13, the Fox News channel (informational mouthpiece of the Republicans) reported that Trump “soon will appoint a high-ranking Ukrainian peace representative who will lead negotiations on ending the war with Russia.”
The position of the US special representative for “war and peace” will not be official (that is, government and full-time) and paid. It was the same during Trump's first presidential term, when Kurt Volker, well-known in Ukraine, held a similar position.
The American special representative will conduct negotiations with both Kyiv and Moscow, and will have not the last word in the Oval Office when making important decisions. It took Trump two weeks to finally decide on a candidate. And at least a week before that, Reuters wrote that Trump was considering this position…
