The Swedish government suspects it was an act of sabotage.

Damage to fiber optic Internet cables was discovered in the Baltic region. Swedish authorities have launched an investigation, the BBC reports.

It is noted that the Stockholm government suspects that this was an act of sabotage. However, Finnish police said they had no reason to suspect criminal activity.

Also, the Finnish transport and communications agency Traficom found that the fiber-optic Internet cables were most likely damaged accidentally.
