The country's government has begun consultations on improving the network of bunkers that provide protection against bombs and nuclear radiation. Switzerland has a 1963 law that guarantees a place in a shelter for each of its nine million citizens, including foreigners and refugees.
“In the coming years, the (Swiss, – Ed.) Confederation wants to eliminate some exceptions to the current rules and update some old shelters,” said Vaux Canton Civil Defense Commander Louis-Henri Delarajaz.
