Symptoms of tetanus, from which a man died in the Lviv region — Health

A man was hospitalized after injuring his leg, which was stepped on by a horse.

A 48-year-old resident of Lviv Oblast died of tetanus. This is the first fatal case in the region this year due to complications from this dangerous disease.

This is reported by the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

On November 1, the man turned to one of the region's hospitals for medical help due to a foot injury.

Tetanus symptoms and hospitalization

The patient developed characteristic symptoms of tetanus:

• trismus (spasm) of facial muscles, in particular, chewing muscles;
• convulsions;
• difficulty breathing;
• general weakness.

The man was hospitalized in one of Lviv's health care facilities. And although the patient was provided with the full range of necessary care, in particular, due to the deterioration of his condition, artificial ventilation of the lungs was performed, but it was not possible to save him.
