Syrian rebels enter Aleppo
There is no evidence yet that the Assad regime has lost control of Aleppo, but even the appearance of rebels on the outskirts of the city is an important event.
Rebel forces in Syria have entered the western outskirts of the country's second largest city, Aleppo. The BBC writes about this with reference to the rebels' statement and geolocated video recordings.
“Our forces have begun to enter the city of Aleppo,” the rebels said in a statement released on Friday.
In support of these words, videos were published online, allegedly filmed on the streets of the city. BBC analysts verified the footage and confirmed that the armed men in the footage are seen running down a street about seven kilometers from the medieval citadel in central Aleppo.
