Teachers' salaries need to be increased, otherwise they will leave the profession
The main problems are low wages and excess bureaucracy.
Almost half of Ukrainian teachers want to leave the profession. To prevent this, it is necessary to increase teachers’ salaries and make a number of other changes to legislation. Educational Ombudsman Nadezhda Leshchik said this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.
“According to the study, more than 40% of teachers want to leave the profession in the next 5 years. We interviewed young teachers and found out why they left the profession. The first reason is the salary, which does not attract young people. The second problem they named is the large number reports and papers and an unfavorable atmosphere in the team. Sometimes the school staff does not accept young people and this also needs to be worked on,” she said.
