The so-called director of the reserve “Askania-Nova” is suspected of war crimes due to the illegal transfer of rare animals to Russia.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.

The prosecutor's office informed the so-called director of the reserve “Askania-Nova” of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war. According to the investigation, the suspect conspired with representatives of the Rostovsky Nature Reserve and the Steppe Wildlife Association to illegally transfer rare and endangered animals, including Chapman's zebras, American bison, David's deer, and Przewalski's horses. The latter are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and are subject to special protection.
