European Union countries are divided over whether they are willing to provide Ukraine with long-term security guarantees from Russia without US involvement.
According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that security guarantees from European countries alone, without the participation of the United States, would not be “sufficient” to provide long-term protection for Ukraine from further Russian aggression.
Zelensky also said he would not publicly disclose any details of discussions with Western countries regarding possible security guarantees.
