Gastroenterologist and nutritionist Irina Berezhnaya said that soy protein is often included in products. It should be avoided as it is an allergen, is not rich enough in amino acids and interferes with the absorption of other beneficial elements such as vitamin B12 and iron.

“That’s why, for example, vegetarians very often have iron deficiency anemia,” the doctor noted.
