In the US, a woman died after going to a restaurant on a first date and eating a dish she had eaten before, not knowing that the recipe had been changed since last time.

Alison Pickering died on May 12, 2023 at a restaurant in Texas. The obituary states that she suffered “severe anaphylactic shock from eating peanuts.”

The 23-year-old girl knew from a young age that she was allergic to peanuts and was very careful with food. When a student went on a first date, she chose a restaurant she had already been to to order a dish she had already eaten before. At the restaurant, she ordered mahi-mahi, a fish dish, but she didn't know that peanut sauce had been added to the recipe since she had last been there.
