The government has changed the rules for payments to the families of soldiers declared dead — Politics

Payments can be received within three years from the date of the court decision to recognize the serviceman as deceased.

The Cabinet of Ministers established a new procedure for the payment of one-time cash assistance to the families of military personnel who were initially missing and later officially declared dead.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

From now on, these families will be able to receive a payment within three years after the court officially recognizes the soldier as deceased. Previously, this term was counted from the date of death indicated in the certificate, which created difficulties for relatives. In cases where the court recognized death after a prolonged disappearance, families may not have had enough time to receive payments, as the court decision was often made long after the person had actually disappeared.

The new rules mean that relatives will now be able to apply for assistance…
