The capital of South Korea experienced historic snowfall.
On Wednesday, November 27, the capital of South Korea, Seoul, was hit by the heaviest snowfall on record. The rainfall has blocked traffic, cut power and canceled hundreds of flights. Authorities, meanwhile, are preparing for new snowfalls in the coming days, reports Reuters.
Two people were reportedly killed by the weather, and debris falling from buildings and construction sites due to strong winds injured several pedestrians.
According to weather forecasters, cold air came from the northwest and turned rain into snow. 18cm of rain fell overnight, the highest since records began in 1907. Snowfall in Seoul is expected to continue at a rate of 5 cm per hour.
