70-year-old Ugandan – Musa Hasahya Kasera – is raising 102 children and 578 grandchildren with 12 wives.

The story of a resident of the village of Mukiza, in the east of the country, became known after travel blogger Kailash Meena made a video about him called “The man who gave birth to the most children in the world.” Although many scoffed, the reality for Musa is much more serious. With many “hungry mouths”, he and his family struggle with hunger and limited resources.

Musa married his first wife at the age of 17 in 1972. As a cattle dealer and butcher, he was offered many wives over the years. This led to the expansion of the family and the aggravation of the problem of providing for it. Polygamy in Uganda is legal for certain religions, and child marriage was only officially banned in 1995.
