The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands an apology from FIFA for showing a map of Ukraine without Crimea during the 2026 World Cup draw.
This was written by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhi, on his page on the X social network.
“By redrawing international borders on yesterday's broadcast, you not only acted against international law, but also supported Russian propaganda, war crimes and the crime of aggression against Ukraine. We have corrected the map for you and are waiting for a public apology,” the message reads.
It will be recalled that on December 13, during the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, FIFA showed a map of Europe on which Crimea was not marked as part of Ukraine. Ukraine was divided into different groups with the Belarus national team, and Russia was not allowed to qualify.
