In Thailand, a mother went to extreme measures to stop her drug-addicted son from using drugs – she built a camera in their house and locked him in it, then invited journalists to see her work.

The 42-year-old also has an internet gambling problem, so his mother decided to lock him in a cell with only food and basic amenities. The Thai authorities intervened and promised the mother, 64-year-old Sarapa, that she would provide her son with the best care at the highest level. He was held in a makeshift cell in a house in Nang Rong district, Buriram province because of his history of drug use and threats to his mother's life, she said.
