The pilot, known on social media as Captain Steve, explained that most commercial aircraft have two engines, while most aircraft are capable of flying with only one engine. But what will happen if both refuse.
“What if a commercial plane lost both engines, would it be able to continue flying? The answer is yes,” explains Steve. “It has a glide ratio of about three to one. At 9km, I'll fly about 145km more.”
The situation would be completely different if the plane had a complete failure of electricity and hydraulics. In this situation, the pilots will not be able to return the plane to the ground because nothing is working.
