When the Azerbaijan Airlines flight crashed, 38 passengers died, but 29 managed to survive, partly thanks to the superhuman feat of the pilots.
This opinion was expressed by BILD expert on open data analysis Julian Repke. The publication recalled that the plane was fired upon by the Russian military over Grozny, but it was able to fly several hundred kilometers to Kazakhstan. In this regard, aviation expert Jacob Werth praised the actions of the pilots: “Judging by the course of the flight and the attempted landing, the plane seemed to be very uncontrollable.”
He added that what saved it from complete destruction was “the amazing achievement of the pilots, who brought the heavily damaged aircraft over the Caspian Sea straight to Aktau.”
