Oleksandr Kornienko, the first deputy speaker of the parliament, explained why Ukraine does not mobilize youth.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is not considering the possibility of lowering the age of mobilization below 25, despite questions from international partners. The youth must rebuild the country after the war.
This was stated by the first vice-speaker of the parliament Oleksandr Kornienko on Radio NV.
He noted that the Verkhovna Rada only recently banned the mobilization of people younger than 25, who were previously limited in their eligibility. They could be mobilized due to inconsistency in legislation.
Kornienko says that against this background, it is “difficult to imagine” a discussion about lowering the mobilization age below 25. At the same time, this discussion — “not conditions, not blackmail, but just a question” — exists among partners who ask why such people are not mobilized in Ukraine.
