Hungarian Ambassador to NATO Istvan Balog caused a diplomatic scandal with his Christmas present. He handed his colleagues in Brussels a geographical atlas, illustrated with maps from the times of “Great Hungary”, which extends far beyond the current borders of the Hungarian state.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman expressed his indignation at such a gift. The Croatian politician considers Balog's gift offensive because it contains references to the historical Greater Hungary.
